Electric Mid-Drive Units and Mounting Kits
The Electric Mid-Drive Unit that we manufacture is our flagship product. Attach one to your recumbent bike and you will instantly have fast, comfortable, pollution free, and affordable transportation. And you'll have more fun than you can possibly imagine.
To simplify ordering this year, we've separated out the different components that make up our Electric Mid-Drive. Rather than have dozens of different variants, several for each bike, we now just sell the basic EMD Unit and a series of what we call Frame Adapters that customize the Unit for different bikes. All you need to order is the EMD Unit, a frame adapter for your particular bike, and a battery.
If you're a homebuilder, have talked to us about what it takes to make your own frame adapter, and are putting together your own battery system, then the Electric Mid-Drive Unit is all you need.
Electric Mid Drive Unit, BMC
Mid-mounted electric drive system with brushless DC motor by BMC. Features a 30 Amp external controller for cool operation and easy maintenance. Heavy duty speed reduction gearbox with replaceable internal components. Freewheeling motor pinion eliminates motor drag when shut down. Mid-freewheel allows motor to drive bike while pedals are stationary, if desired. All components CNC machined from high strength aluminum and then anodized for weather protection and fantastic appearance.

Electric Mid Drive Unit, Powerpack
Same as above with brushless DC motor by Powerpack. 35 Amp external controller gives about 15% more power than the BMC. Starting torque is about twice as high for faster acceleration or pulling heavy loads up hills. The high startup torque requires a battery that can supply lots of current so we don't sell this motor with our smaller, 16Ah lithium batteries. If you want ultimate performance though, this is your motor.

Purchase just the drive train components without a motor. This option is useful if you already have a compatible motor or would like to experiment with other motors.

Drain Brain Option
Add the Drain Brain watt-hour meter. Accurately tracks the amount of charge removed from the battery. More useful that so-called battery fuel guages which attempt to guess how much charge is left. Also tracks a variety of motor and battery parameters useful in optimizing operation and diagnosing problems. Price is with purchase of EMD Unit.

Custom Gearing Options
Factory customize the gearing on your EMD Unit. Tell us your current chainring, cog, and wheel sizes, and your riding style. We will customize the gearing setup just for you. Or, use the gearing calculator on this site and tell us what combination you want. Some component combinations cost more than others so price varies.
ACC-CG$100 to $250
Frame Adapters customize an EMD Unit to fit a particular recumbent bike. A Frame Adapter is not just mounting brackets but rather a carefully engineered solution that adapts the EMD to a particular bike. The Frame adapter alters the appearance of the EMD to match the bike, contains custom CNC machined mounting pieces, and, where necessary, parts to route the chain line around obstacles on the bicycle frame. Frame adapters also include all instructions needed to install an EMD Unit on a particular bike.
BIKE E RX/FX
Simple bolt on mounting. Replaces existing 3-speed mid-jackshaft. The full suspension, off-road capable RX and FX can become outrageous powered recumbent mountain bikes. Leave the uprights at the bottom of the hill.

BIKE E AT/CT
Requires drilling 4 holes on underside of frame, drill template included, for attaching unit. Holes do not affect frame strength and are not visible if unit is later removed. The long frames of the CT and AT are good for taller riders and have plenty of room for batteries behind the seat.

Unit clamps to lower frame tube and seat tube. Front chain tensioner allows use of front chainrings. The EZ-Rider has rear suspension and disc brakes on two models.

Unit clamps to lower frame tube and seat tube. Front chain tensioner allows use of front chainrings. The EZ-Sport is fast and comfortable for larger riders and makes a good lower cost electric touring recumbent.

Clamps unit to lower square frame tube underneath seat. Front chain tensioner allows use of front chainrings. The EZ-1 AX looks like its low cost sibling, the EZ-1 SX/SC. It's a much higher quality bike though, and makes a fast light electric runabout.

Clamps unit to lower frame tube underneath seat. Front chain tensioner allows use of front chainrings. The EZ-Sunray is a semi-recumbent or feet-forward design. As such it is the closest thing ti a conventional bicycle that you can get an EMD for. It's also the least expensive bicycle that we fit.

Tucks unit under seat between frame tubes for an almost complete stealth installation. More complicated installation than most, but completely bolt on. Front chain tensioner allows use of front chainrings and the front boom can still be adjusted. This is a very complex system to make so we have to price it high.

Burley Koosah, Nasoke, Spider, Jett Creek, and Sandpoint
Unit clamps below seat using EcoSpeed designed "quarter clamps". These only wrap 1/4 of the way around the frame tube so as not to interfere with cable routing or seat travel. The clamp attaches by means of a water bottle nut concealed under the clamp. These longwheelbase Burleys are fast, comfortable, quality bikes.

Unit attaches to the twin lower frame tubes and is located below the seat. Front tensioner allows use of front rings. Ultra high quality Terracycle chain idler hikes the rear chain up and over the chainstay. The long wheelbase, super comfortable Stratus LE makes a great fast electric touring or commuter bike.

Clamps unit to lower square frame tube underneath seat. Front chain tensioner allows use of front chainrings. The EZ-3 is one of the few trikes we have adapters for and the only delta. Makes a great electric runabout for shopping and errands. Put a big basket behind the seat and carry a week's worth of groceries.

Easy Racers Javelin/Sun Tomahawk
Uses 4 Ecospeed designed quarter clamps to attach to the single frame tube below the seat. These only wrap 1/4 of the way around the frame tube so as not to interfere with cable routing or seat travel. The clamp attaches by means of a water bottle nut concealed under the clamp. These are fast, moderately priced recumbents suitable for touring or commuting.

Unit attaches to the twin lower frame tubes and is located below the seat. Front tensioner allows use of front rings. The disc brake equipped, fast V2 makes a great high performance electric recumbent.
