SUMMER 2007 UPDATE
We are nearing completion of our transiton to 37 Volt systems and will be shipping kits by early August. Thanks to all of you who have been patiently waiting.Be sure and check out our new lower prices on most kits. Lithium battery prices are dropping slowly and so we are reducing our prices to reflect that. Also, as we increase our volumes, we are able to lower prices a bit from that as well. As always though, our focus in on providing the highest quality and best performance of any electric assist on the market.
We will continue to offer the 750 Watt motor is made by Powerpack. At 37 Volts, the Powerpack can supply 1000W of short term power as well as 50% more torque. The continuous rating is still 750W, but that's now very conservative.
A new 37V 600W motor with an external controller will replace our current 26 Volt 600W motor. The external controller gives better cooling and enhanced reliability such as our externally controlled Powerpack motors have, as well as 50% more torque.The new lithium batteries are the similar in weight and capacity to our 26 Volt batteries. A 15Ah 37 Volt stores a bit more energy and gives slightly more range than our 20Ah 26 Volt. The 20Ah 37 Volt has the same stored energy as our previous 30Ah, 26 Volt. The higher voltage allows our motors to produce more torque and power for better performance. Efficiency stays the same so range is not affected.
We now have kits for almost 20 recumbent models with more coming.
Our kits come complete with a pre-assembled Electric Mid-Drive unit, mounting hardware, wiring, battery, and charger. You only need a few hand tools (and a drill for some models). Clear instructions make assembly easy for do-it-yourselfers or your local bike dealer.

| This year, because of battery and motor improvements, we will let you mix and match motors and batteries or even buy any of our kits without batteries. The last option is for those who are comfortable with electricity and wiring and want to build their own custom battery system, either to save money or to use a different kind of battery. So now, you order the battery and motor as separate items. The battery includes everything you need -- case, fuse, switch, charger, and mounting hardware. |

An external controller runs cooler than internal controller motors and can be replaced separately if it ever fails. | 750 Watt motor by Powerpack. The Powerpack uses a large external controller with high current transistors to get more power out of motor only slightly larger than our 600W. The big transistors can shove more current through the motor without any danger of overheating. This means more power and more low speed torque and a motor that is the same size and weight. This is the motor to choose for ultimate, push you back in the seat, performance. |

| This option is for those who are comfortable with electrical wiring and want to experiment with setting up their own battery system, either to save money or get better performance. The Sun EZ-3 SX with electric assist makes a wonderful powered runabout for zipping down to the local grocery store. With large basket behind the seat, you can easily carry four full grocery bags. And with 600W of power, you can haul those groceries with no effort up any hill. The SX even has an available soft top accessory for rain and sun protection. Sorry, we only have kits for the SX, not the higher performing AX and USX. Also, we don't offer our 750W motor with this trike because we feel that it gives too much performance for safe operation. The no battery option is a good deal with this trike. You can easily carry lots of lead-acid batteries behind the seat or strapped under the beefy frame for lots of low cost range and power. |

| We discontinued these kits briefly. After all, it's been 5 years since Bike E went out of business. Enough of you still seem to want them, that we've decided to continue selling them at a slightly higher price to cover the cost of making them in small numbers. The Bike E does make an amazing electric bike, especially the suspended models. And the FX is still the only full suspension recumbent mountain bike ever made. Put an electric assist on one and leave your friends on conventional mountain bikes at the bottom of the hill. | Lithium Batteries have the highest energy to weight ratio of any battery technology. If you've been using NiMh batteries, you can cut your battery weight in half at a given capacity. If you're using lead-acid, you can cut your battery weight by a factor of four. These are lithium ion polymer batteries. They are different from the cyclindrical lithium cells commonly found in laptop computers are an inherently safer type of construction. In addition, each battery has a Battery Management System (BMS) built in. The battery zips inside the case with the charger connection accessible at the zippered end. At the other end of the case there is extra space to allow your EcoSpeed power switch to be attached to the end of the battery and accessed through an opening in the side of the case. Power leads exit the case via another opening. |

The Drain Brain, made in Vancouver Canada is the first Watt-hour meter specifically designed for Electric Bicycles. The Drain Brain measures instantaneous, volts, amps, and watts.
